Tamekia Swint's love for hair and the natural hair profession has led to years of transformational hairstyling over the last 25 years, and for the non-profit, she founded in 2010, Styles 4 Kidz.  It wasn't easy getting started with little funding. Still, with the support of transracial adoptive, foster families, and biracial families in her local community, along with Tamekia's leadership, determination, and grit, Styles 4 Kidz recently celebrated ten years of life-changing impact.

Today, Tamekia is committed to growing the organization and dedicated, talented leaders who bring encouragement and a celebratory view to natural hair that makes children proud of their textured crowns. Swint Styles, a brand launched by Tamekia in 2020, presents "Your Hair is Your Crown!" This delightful children's book about natural hair will uplift, encourage, and educate kids in multicultural communities. Swint will also release a line of t-shirts and posters with an uplifting message about natural hair available under the brand.
